We have had a three weeks to recover from WPPI’s intense 5 days in Las Vegas but it still seems like we just got back yesterday. This was Jess’ 5th time attending and Erin and LDC’s 1st time. Let’s just say it was nothing short of amazing!
It is funny because the initial thought that always comes to my mind when someone mentions Las Vegas is “What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.” …Well, I suppose that would be true if we weren’t surrounded by thousands of photographers!
What is WPPI? Literally, it stands for: Wedding and Portrait Photographers International. In a nut shell, it is a week of classes, speakers, networking, meeting vendors, dancing and having an incredible time. I am pretty positive that we didn’t get more than 3 hours of sleep on any given night we were there. You know it was a great day/night when you wake up at 8am and have already started your day with almost 10,000 steps on your FitBit.
Why do we go to WPPI? Roberto Valenzuela summed it up perfectly when he said, “It’s about the continuing education and growth–don’t get left behind–always push and always learn.” The photography industry is always evolving, always changing. Unless we remain current with our techniques we would be left in the dust.
Just a recap of our crazy schedule:
Sunday:
Mike Allebach
Jaleel King
Jared Bauman
Yervant Zanazanian
Opening Night Party at Hakkasan Nightclub
Monday:
Jerry Ghionis
Roberto Valenzuela
Rob Greer
Print Competition
Wine and Chocolate Party hosted by SDE
WPPI Pool Party – MGM’s Producer Pool
Tuesday:
WPPI Fun Run – Erin and Lauren totally thought Jess was nuts running a 5k on an hour of sleep – but she seemed to have a good time and made it back to the hotel in one piece!
Susan Stripling
Sara France Photographers – the West Coast version of JessFoto. No lie.
It wouldn’t be WPPI without the tradeshow! JessFoto is getting pretty swanky with some improvements and upgrades (new website coming soon, a photo booth, custom USBs for our fabulous brides, new lighting (it wouldn’t be a true conference if Erin didn’t do a little modeling), fancy newborn props, and amazing little tid bits to help streamline our workflow).
And it wouldn’t be Vegas if we didn’t have a little fun!
